Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Brazilian defender Rodrigo Ely on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old centre-back has put pen to paper on a deal with the Reds until the end of the 2021-22 season.

He becomes Forest's 10th signing of the summer, coming on the back of a busy transfer deadline day for the club.

Nottingham Forest announced the signing of midfielder Braian Ojeda on transfer deadline day but what can fans expect from the player described as one of Paraguay's 'brighter gems'?

The 21-year-old has joined the Reds from Paraguay Primera Division outfit Club Olimpia on a four-year deal.

He made his debut for Olimpia at the age of 18 and has also represented Paraguay national team at under-17, under-20 and under-23 levels.

EFL punishment

Derby County defender Craig Forsyth was accused of stamping on Nottingham Forest's Phillip Zinckernagel during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Pride Park.

At the time, Forsyth escaped without punishment as referee Tim Robinson missed the incident but the Rams have now confirmed that he had been handed a three-match retrospective ban by the Football Association.

Forsyth, 32, was deemed to have committed an act of violent conduct in the first-half incident.
