Nottingham Forest announce fixture change for key clash in final run-in

Nottingham Forest have announced a change of date for their final away game of the Championship season.

The Reds make the trip to face Barnsley in what will be their penultimate game - and one which might be crucial in determining where they finish in the table.

Sabri Lamouchi’s men will hope to have a top six place sewn up by then, but it could nevertheless be a crunch clash against the Tykes.

And that fixture will now take place on Sunday, July 19, with a 3pm kick-off.

It had originally been scheduled for Saturday, July 18, but Forest say the match has not been moved for television coverage.

Before then, the Reds will travel to Preston North End this weekend and meet Swansea City at the City Ground next Wednesday.

They complete their campaign at home to Stoke City on Wednesday, July 22, but will hope to be involved in the play-offs after that.

Following last night’s 1-0 loss to Fulham, they are in fifth spot, holding a four-point advantage of Cardiff City immediately below them.

That result against the Cottagers was Forest’s first defeat since the restart and only their 10th of the season.

So far, they have lost just three times on the road.
