On-loan Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Arijanet Muric could see his time at the City Ground brought to an end next month.
According to The Athletic, “new options are being explored from January onwards” for the 21-year-old from Manchester City, who lost his place in the team to Brice Samba earlier in the season.
Muric started the campaign between the posts and played the first four league games, before being relegated to the bench by head coach Sabri Lamouchi.
He was left out of the matchday squad altogether recently, for the 1-0 defeat at home to Cardiff City, with Jordan Smith named as the substitute stopper - a player whose attitude Lamouchi has praised despite him not playing a single minute of football this term.
The Athletic claim: “Forest were one of four or five Championship clubs that could have taken him on loan in the summer and new options are being explored from January onwards.
“City and Forest have a good relationship but Muric’s parent club feel their player has been let down, while his temporary one believe it is they who have had the short end of the stick.”
And the report also says Muric was fined for being late for training during pre-season, then was late a second time when a flight back to England was cancelled in August.
It is claimed he then missed a message one evening notifying players that the following day’s training had been brought forward.
