Nottingham Forest and Celtic rejected by Premier League striker - report

Nottingham Forest have been rejected by Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp, according to reports.

The former Reds striker is said to have turned down the chance to return to the City Ground on loan, the Daily Star say.

Celtic have also been given the cold shoulder by the 33-year-old , who would rather fight for his place at Bramall Lane.

Forest are in the market for a striker and have been heavily linked with Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah and were yesterday said to be one of the clubs eyeing up Brighton and Hove Albion veteran Glenn Murray.

It is claimed that Blades boss Chris Wilder has opened the door for Sharp, who has fallen behind new recruits Lys Mousset, Oliver McBurnie and Callum Robinson in the pecking order at the Premier League side.

Sharp spent the 2012-13 campaign on Trentside, joining on loan from Southampton.

He scored 11 goals in 40 appearances for the Reds, ending the campaign as the club's top goalscorer.

This season Sharp has made only 12 outings, starting just once.

He scored the Blades' first goal on their return to the League, a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw at AFC Bournemouth.

Wilder's side are currently in eighth place after an impressive start to the season following promotion last campaign, in which Sharp scored 23 League goals.
