Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City keeping tabs on winger previously linked with Bristol City

A number of clubs are keeping tabs on a former Bristol City target currently plying his trade in League Two.

The Robins were linked with a move for Watford's Randell Williams in January last season, along with Brentford and Portsmouth after an impressive loan spell in League One with Wycombe Wanderers.

Yet Williams instead opted to join Exeter City on a free transfer, moving down to League Two for first-team football.

It is a move that has paid off for the 22-year-old, having started the season in fine form, with three assists to his name already for the table-toppers.

Teamtalk report that Championship clubs are once again keeping tabs on the former Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur youth player.

Whilst the Robins are not one of the clubs being linked to Williams, some of their rivals are.

Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest are both said to have sent scouts down to Devon to see Williams in action, along with QPR and Huddersfield Town.

New Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley will likely know Williams well, having managed Lincoln City to the League Two title last season.

It seems unlikely that City will renew any interest they had in him this January.

Callum O'Dowda recently signed a new contract, whilst the summer addition of Kasey Palmer means they are fairly well set when it comes to wingers.
