Nottingham Forest and Bordeaux end negotiations over French striker

Nottingham Forest and Bordeaux have ended their talks over the transfer of French striker Alexandre Mendy, according to le10sport.com.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Forest had opened negotiations to land the forward - but now those talks are said to have collapsed.

New Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi was reported to be one of a number of managers keen on signing the 25-year-old, with the Frenchman in need of reinforcements to bolster his attack and provide competition for Lewis Grabban.

Mendy remains under contract at Bordeaux until 2021, but has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this season having made just eight starts since joining in 2017.

But while negotiations between Forest and Bordeaux have broken down, the prospect of a loan move to join newly promoted Ligue 1 side Brest are said to still be very much alive.

The Reds are still short of fire power in attack as the transfer deadline fast approaches.

Despite boasting a 38-man squad at the time of writing, Tyler Walker's loan move to join League One Lincoln City has left the club with only loanee Rafa Mir to provide back up for Grabban, after Jason Cummings and Daryl Murphy were both told that they could leave.
