Nottingham Forest 'already bid' for 15-goal Dutch midfield ace

Nottingham Forest are reported to have made a bid for Dutch attacking midfielder Zian Flemming.

The 22-year-old former Ajax youth player scored an impressive 12 goals and provided seven assists for Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie last season, while adding a further three goals in the cup to take his overall tally to 15.

Netherlands outlet Veronica Inside claim that English sources have told them that the Reds are “seriously” interested in Flemming and have already made a bid for his services.

The report says Flemming indicated in an interview last season that he was interested in a move.

His current market value according to Transfermarkt.com is £1.08m.

The exciting young player only joined Fortuna from PEC Zwolle last summer for a relatively low transfer fee and is contracted until the summer of 2024.

But his outstanding form as one of the most important players at Fortuna last season has caught the attention of Forest who have enjoyed the services of a number of Dutch players over the years including Hans van Breukelen, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Brian Roy and Frans Thijssen.

Forest are understood to be actively looking for an attacking midfielder but reports suggesting they were close to signing Emiliano Marcondes were wide of the mark.

The Reds had been linked with a move for the free agent attacking midfielder, who has been released by Brentford following their promotion to the Premier League, with suggestions they “were amongst those in talks” over securing a deal.

West Bromwich Albion, QPR, Barnsley and Norwich City were also said to be interested, while teams in France and Germany reportedly put forward offers. However, he has today signed for Championship rivals Bournemouth.
