Nottingham Forest 'agree to bargain deal' with Sheffield United for defender

Nottingham Forest defender Jack Robinson is reportedly close to joining Sheffield United in a “bargain deal”.

The left-back has found himself down the pecking order at the City Ground of late, with Yuri Ribeiro and Chema - more naturally a centre-back - both being used ahead of him by head coach Sabri Lamouchi.

According to The Sun, Robinson is set to join the Premier League Blades as “Forest agreed to the bargain deal to give them money for reinforcements in other areas”.

The report adds Robinson, who started out at Liverpool, is “jumping at the chance to go back to the top-flight”.

The 26-year-old joined the Reds in the summer of 2018 and this season has made 19 appearances in the Garibaldi.

He last featured in the 3-2 victory over Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Day, with his last outing before that coming in Forest’s 4-0 thumping by Sheffield Wednesday in mid-December.

Lamouchi was asked about Robinson’s absence from the matchday squad at Reading just over a week ago, but the manager said it was just his “choice”.

The former QPR man was also left out of this Sunday’s clash with Luton Town.

And prior to that game, Lamouchi had admitted some fringe players could depart during the transfer window.

“Just by choice, just because they want to play more and we can probably find a solution,” he said of potential departures, in his pre-match press conference.

“But not the players who are part of the project, not the players who are playing, not the players who can help us to win games.”
