Nottingham Forest 'agree' terms with club over defender's departure

Nicholas Ioannou’s Nottingham Forest departure is on the brink of being confirmed – just over three months since he signed for the Reds.

The Cyprus defender hasn’t figured for Forest since being sent off in the 1-1 draw at Luton Town on October 28.

Ioannou has been strongly linked with Greek club Aris Thessaloniki and this afternoon Hellas Football reported that the two clubs had agreed terms over a transfer.

It added that the 25-year-old, who has made just five appearances for the Reds, was expected in Thessaloniki “soon” to complete his move.

When asked about the speculation surrounding Ioannou recently, Reds boss Chris Hughton said: “I can understand that one.

“As regards that speculation, that I don’t know. I must admit, I don’t know anything about that one.

“There will be lots more speculation, and particularly about those players who haven’t featured so much.”
