Nottingham Forest add to backroom staff as duo get rare game for Under-23s

Rare run-out

Summer signing Cafu pulled on a Nottingham Forest shirt for the first time, as he featured for the Under-23s against Charlton Athletic.

The midfielder made the move to the City Ground on international transfer deadline day earlier this month, penning a season-long loan deal from fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club Olympiacos.

He has yet to be involved for the first-team however, either under former head coach Sabri Lamouchi or new boss Chris Hughton.

Royal appointment

Louis Ducruet says he is “ready for this new challenge” after taking up a role at Nottingham Forest.

The 27-year-old, who is the son of Princess Stephanie of Monaco and is 15th in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne, has joined the Reds as an advisor for international projects.

He will work on expanding the club’s global presence, meaning he will not be involved in the football department at the City Ground.

Ducruet makes the move after leaving AS Monaco this summer, and posted about his appointment on Instagram.

Forest might be two time European Cup winners, but they have also spent 21 years outside of the elite.

So long away from the top table makes for a hungry owner and fanbase, especially after prolific investment in the current squad, but if Hughton does take Forest back up, he will cement an immediate legacy of success.

Injury update

Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has issued an encouraging update on his fitness.

The centre-back hasn’t figured yet under new Reds boss Chris Hughton due to foot injury, which ruled him out of action for up to eight weeks.

However, Worrall has hinted he could be back in action ahead of schedule.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Worrall wrote: “Won’t be long.”
