Striker Lyle Taylor got Nottingham Forest fans intrigued when he revealed Ryan Yates has a special nickname for him a few weeks ago.
And now the Reds midfielder has explained all.
In a wide-ranging - and far from typical - post-match interview after his team had seen off Cardiff City in the FA Cup earlier this month, Taylor sparked debate with some of his comments.
He spoke about the Black Lives Matter movement and how he feels society has become too politically correct.
Clearly not afraid to speak his mind or hold his own on topics away from football, it has resulted in some gentle teasing from some of Taylor’s teammates.
Yates, who picked up a calf injury in last week’s defeat to Middlesbrough, told NottinghamshireLive with a grin: “He’s dyed his hair blond… and he’s always talking about covid. Every single day he’s in, talking about covid and Boris Johnson this or that.
“I just started calling him Boris all the time.
“I’m like, ‘shut up, Boris!’.
“Whenever someone says something, they’re always wrong! It was just doing my head in, so I started calling him Boris, and all the other lads have jumped on it.
“It’s harmless really!
“He loves the attention really.”
