Nottingham Forest ace's transfer clause confirmed as club's stance revealed

Nottingham Forest loanee Philip Zinckernagel has a 'January recall clause' in the loan agreement with parent club Watford, according to reports.

The forward has featured in all 11 of Steve Cooper 's matches as Forest head coach and become a key part of the attacking quartet since joining in early August.

After amassing just one goal and one assist under predecessor Chris Hughton, the former Denmark youth international has upped his productivity since by trebling his goal tally and quadrupling his assist total.

Zinckernagel has also displayed his versatility by operating across the advanced midfield three as well as up front.

According to The Athletic, Watford inserted a 'recall clause' for the upcoming winter transfer window when agreeing to the loan deal with the Reds, which could see new manager Claudio Ranieri exercise that option.

While the report goes on to add that they understand it is 'unlikely' to be the case at this stage, the Premier League side are likely to be depleted in the forward department in the coming months.

Talisman Ismaila Sarr is almost certain to be called up by Senegal for the Africa Cup of Nations in the New Year, and Emmanuel Dennis, who has been in fine form so far this season with four league goals, could also be in line to receive a recall to the Nigeria squad in time for the tournament.

The report also goes on to add that the Reds don't have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Zinckernagel made 21 appearances for Watford last season after arriving from Bodo/Glimt in January under then-head coach Xisco Munoz during their promotion campaign.

Before that, he had spells in his native Denmark across the top two divisions at Nordsjaelland, HB Koge, FC Helsingor and SonderjyskE before making the move to Norway.
