Nottingham Forest ace recognised for fine season - but Reds fans all say same thing

Goalkeeper Brice Samba has been recognised for a fine first season with Nottingham Forest.

The 26-year-old made the move to the City Ground last summer from Caen and quickly established himself as a first-choice stopper, and a fans’ favourite.

He impressed on the pitch, making some crucial saves for Sabri Lamouchi’s side.

And his performances clearly caught the eye as he has been named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

Samba is the only Reds player included in the chosen XI, though several fans on social media questioned why Matty Cash had missed out - the right-back having been crowned the club’s Player of the Year before he made the move to Aston Villa last week.

Title winners Leeds United had four representatives in the PFA team, with midfielder Kalvin Phillips joining defensive trio Luke Ayling, Ben White and Liam Cooper.

Brentford’s attacking duo Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma make the cut, with Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic completing the strike force.

Samba made 43 appearances in all competitions in the Garibaldi last term, keeping 15 clean-sheets.

Championship team of the year: Brice Samba (Nottingham Forest), Luke Ayling, Ben White, Liam Cooper (all Leeds), Joe Bryan (Fulham), Eberechi Eze (QPR), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds), Romaine Sawyers (West Brom), Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham), Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma (both Brentford).
