Nottingham Forest ace makes exciting Steve Cooper prediction ahead of next season

Newly-crowned player of the season Morgan Gibbs-White is excited for what is to come at Nottingham Forest when the 2023/24 campaign kicks off.

The 23-year-old was head coach Steve Cooper’s top target last summer as the Reds overhauled their squad ready for the step up to the Premier League. And he has excelled in his first year at the City Ground, earning him the club’s end-of-term accolade voted for by supporters.

Gibbs-White was a standout performer in a team which adopted a largely pragmatic approach at times in a bid to beat the drop. But with Cooper having already said he wants Forest’s style of play to evolve as they look to push on in the top-flight, the attacker is convinced the Reds will be a handful for opponents once they get going.

He has also given an insight into Cooper’s man-management and how that was a considerable draw when he made the switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The pair had worked together before, and they have proved to be a formidable combination again Trentside.

“It was big,” Gibbs-White said of his move to Forest on an episode of Kick Game’s Shopping for Sneakers on YouTube. “They’ve got a big history. I’d worked with the manager before, so I knew how he works. I love how he is as a guy and how he manages people.

“It was a no-brainer for me. I wasn’t getting game time where I was. I just thought, start a new chapter, move on. Luckily enough it’s paid off so far.

“You see some managers who might look a bit stubborn here and there, but he is probably one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. As a man-manager, you can go to him about anything and he’ll speak to you as if I’m your boy.

“When things aren’t going well, he can switch on the seriousness, which I enjoy. The football we’ve played this season has not been how I know he wants to play. But I feel like, the upcoming season, when we do start to get things ticking, we could be a problem.”
