Nottingham Forest ace has his say on proposals to finish Championship season

Nottingham Forest ace Joe Lolley has had his say on suggestions for how the Championship season could come to a conclusion.

Play is currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and there is uncertainty over when matches will resume.

Games will not restart until the end of April at the earliest, although that date is expected to be pushed back further.

It means a packed schedule is likely once football does return, in a bid to get the campaign completed.

Lolley, though, believes players will accept the situation as they are simply keen to see out the season.

A report from the Daily Mail carried the headline: “Don’t burn us out! Premier League and EFL players furious at the prospect of playing three matches in FIVE DAYS in rush to finish the season by June 30.”

It was quoted in a tweet by Manchester United legend Gary Neville, who said: “I’m in no doubt whenever it does return it will be 9-10 game hit in an extremely condensed period. Contracts may have to be temporarily extended if needed and the PFA just need to accept this as a requirement.”

Lolley quoted Neville’s tweet, saying: “I can’t imagine any/many players being worried about that? Whenever it’s safe to do so, let us just finish the season whichever ways necessary!”

The Reds have been fighting for promotion this term, sitting in fifth place with nine games to play.
