Nottingham Forest ace discusses future as Max Lowe transfer claim made

Tobias Figueiredo says he has no intention of returning to native Portugal until he has achieved his Premier League dream.

Figueiredo has impressed under new head coach Steve Cooper as part of a back three.

The 27-year-old has opened up about life at Forest and his dream of one day playing against the likes of compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United.

“I feel the Championship is a great showcase,” he told A Bola (via Sport Witness )

“If I had stayed in Portugal, I would only be better if I were playing for the big ones [club]. So it’s not my goal to return. I believe that, at 27, I have that margin to reach the Premier League and see myself alongside Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and all the others. Transfer battle

Sheffield United could consider ending Max Lowe’s Nottingham Forest loan spell early, according to reports.

The defender has been in fine form since joining the Reds in the summer, and is a key player at wing-back in manager Steve Cooper’s 3-4-3 formation.

He is due to spend the campaign at the City Ground, but, as previously reported by NottinghamshireLive, the Blades do have a recall option in January - as is the case for the majority of loan moves.

It is also understood an option for Forest to make Lowe’s move permanent in the summer was not included in the deal.

Forest have flourished under the Welshman, losing just one of his nine games in charge and climbing to within four points of the top six.

They have got there by showing strength of character and resilience, coming from behind to take at least a point on five separate occasions.

But Cooper says playing in front of a passionate support, who back the club in large numbers home and away, brings a responsibility to show the right attitude.

Grabban debate

Lewis Grabban's return to form at Nottingham Forest is currently running parallel with a debate over his future.

Grabban became the first striker to hit 50 league goals since Marlon Harewood last weekend, when he scored twice in the win over Preston.

That took him to eight goals in 17 games this season, meaning he has already surpassed the six in 29 he got last season.

While Grabban has reminded supporters of his qualities, the fact remains he will be 34 in January and is in the final year of his contract at Forest.
