Nottingham fine dining restaurant Alchemilla has been awarded a Michelin star

Nottingham fine dining restaurant Alchemilla has been awarded a Michelin star.

It is only the second restaurant in the county to receive the prestigious award.

Owner Alex Bond has worked at some of the UK’s best kitchens including Michelin-starred restaurants Restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham, Auberge du Lac in Hertfordshire and Turners in Birmingham.

Reacting to the news, chef Alex, who opened Alchemilla in 2017, said: "I've been doing this for 21 years and I'm just speechless, absolutely speechless."

The restaurant, in Derby Road, stands in front of a former lace merchant's house and opened in August 2017.

As well as 40 seats in the restaurant, there's a chef’s table in the kitchen. Giving a bird’s eye view of the chefs in action, it can seat up to ten people at the purpose-built polished concrete table.

Serving five, seven and ten course tasting menus, diners who opt for wine pairings, can expect to pay £100 to £150 per person.

It has been a busy year for the plant-based restaurant.

In January the restaurant was awarded three AA Rosettes for culinary excellence and in April the popular restaurant opened a new outdoor roof terrace.
