Nottingham e-scooter users warned to be mindful of new charge

Users of Nottingham's e-scooters which can be used throughout the city have been warned of a new charge.

Those who ride the yellow Wind e-scooters have been told to be mindful that new charges are in place if the scooters are not parked correctly.

Using the Wind app, parking spots for the scooters which can be hired are located all over the city.

From today (August 9) users must park within the allocated areas - some which are marked with parking bays - or face being charged a £7.50 fee.

In a statement released to app users via a notification, Wind said: " Be mindful of a new charge.

"Hello. This is just to let you know we are introducing a flat fee of £7.50 for leaving our scooter outside of a parking spot.

"Please park considerately, we really appreciate your co-operation."

Residents have previously voiced concerns to Nottinghamshire Live about how e-scooters are being parked in different parts of the city.

The electric scooters have been on trial in the city for 10 months now as part of a 12 month scheme.

The scooters have been brought to the city by Nottingham City Council.

Earlier this year in an update, the council revealed the rental e-scooters have been ridden more than 240,000 times and around 16,000 people are registered to use them, with a daily average of more than 1,500 riders.

The average distance the scooters are used for is 1.9 miles per trip and in total, they have covered more than 435,000 miles.
