Nottingham College confirms job losses due to the coronavirus pandemic

Nottingham College has confirmed some of its workforce have been made redundant.

A total of 13 roles have been made redundant, a college spokesperson confirmed.

It said it had "endeavoured to protect its workforce" in what has been "a testing time".

The college was formed following a merger of New College Nottingham and Central College in 2017 and provides education and training to more than 6,000 young learners, more than 8,000 adults and nearly 2,000 apprentices.

In its first Ofsted report since the merger, from January this year, Nottingham College was rated as 'Requires Improvement'.

The college has a number of sites including the Adams Building in Nottingham’s Lace Market, as well as in Basford, Highfields, Stapleford, and Ruddington.

It offers classroom-based courses in all major subject areas from entry level through to higher education.

A spokesperson from Nottingham College said: "During what has been a testing time for most businesses and organisations, Nottingham College has endeavoured to protect its workforce.

"Unfortunately, for a range of reasons, we have had to make 13 roles redundant."
