Nottingham City Council explains why coffee and ice cream vans will be closed at Wollaton Park

Changes are being brought in at Wollaton Park to help maintain safety during the national lockdown.

In particular, Wollaton Park's external food and drink traders such as coffee vans and ice cream vendors will be closing temporarily.

The decision has been brought about after 'some comments' were received by Nottingham City Council.

The Courtyard Café and Café 508 near the playground will remain open but both will be kept under review.

In addition, changes are being brought in for parking at the attraction to manage visitor numbers.

Only the three main car parks will remain open, with the overspill car park being closed.

Once the car parks are full, the front entrance to the park will close to stop more vehicles from entering.

A Nottingham City Council spokesperson said: “We want people to use our wonderful parks and open spaces to exercise during the current national lockdown, but we clearly need to maintain safety at all times.

"In the past few days we’ve received comments from people about external vendors on site, so have taken the decision to temporarily close them.

“We will continue to provide refreshments in the courtyard and near the play area for now. This is being kept under constant review and we will have no hesitation to close both kiosks if we feel queues are becoming unmanageable.

“To further manage numbers, the overspill car park will close and if our three main car parks become full, the front gate will be shut to stop more vehicles entering the site.

“Visitors can find all the information they need on the latest facilities available by visiting www.wollatonhall.org.uk/coronavirus.

"We’d recommend they check this before each visit.”
