Nottingham city centre road closed after 'sink hole' opens up

A road in Nottingham city centre has been closed after a sink hole opened up.

Nottingham City Council has coned off Albion Street, which connects Canal Street, Collin Street and Greyfriar Gate, as of 10am on Wednesday, June 2.

The road also serves the Nottingham Castle (Canal Street) car park which is, at present, inaccessible due to the bus lane restrictions which currently govern Canal Street.

Minor delays are expected, the Nottingham City Council says, and work will start immediately.

Traffic conditions will be monitored in the meantime.

Pictures from the scene show a hole which has opened up in the centre of the road.

Cones and a 'road closed' sign have been put up off Greyfriar Gate while a single cone is currently covering the sink hole.
