Nottingham city centre building evacuated and road blocked

Two fire engines were called to an office block in Nottingham city centre, with workers evacuated and a road closed.

Dozens of people were gathered outside the building in Wollaton Street, with two fire crews in attendance.

However, the evacuation was due to a false alarm, the fire service has confirmed in a statement.

Nottinghamshire Live witnessed dozens of people waiting outside, close to the Crown Plaza hotel and car park, and the back of Alea Casino.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It was a false alarm. We received calls to offices in Wollaton Street at around 12.05pm.

"Two crews were sent to the scene, one from Stockhill and one from London Road."
