A chip shop owner has stopped downing spirits after being caught drink-driving for the third time in four years.
A four-year driving ban was imposed on Ibrahim Akar, 35, who was driving his personalised Mercedes which crashed on the Colwick loop road.
A 12-week prison term, suspended for a year, was also ordered for Akar of Nottingham Road, Burton Joyce.
He admitted driving with 190 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood on July 23. The legal limit is 80.
Maria Moore, mitigating, told city magistrates that he often works 19-hour shifts and is having to use taxis to get between his two chip shops, where his wife also does long hours. One is in the city and the other in Basford.
She went on: "They employ between nine and 11 people. Without Mr Akar the business would fail."
Miss Moore added: "Now he has the odd beer and keeps away from spirits because they are the problem.
"He really just works and sleeps but there is the odd occasion when he does socialise and then problems occur. He is an alcohol misuser rather than alcohol dependent."
The court heard that Akar got a one-year driving ban in 2016. Last year, a second conviction led to a 40-month disqualification.
A probation report said: "He is full of remorse and regret. There are flaws in his thinking and his behaviour.
"He owns two businesses, chip shops, and works into the early hours of the morning and also during the week catering for students' night out in the city of Nottingham.
"What he does acknowledge is that when he drinks spirits, he struggled to stop drinking."
