Nottingham chef Sat Bains issues important Covid-19 vaccination message

A Michelin starred chef has urged residents to take up the coronavirus vaccine.

Sat Bains, who runs his fine dining restaurant in Lenton Lane, said it is "very important" that people take the jab in order to keep the community safe.

Last year, the chef launched vegan curry and samosas takeaway after teaming up with his mum to create the The Momma Bains menu.

In a video posted by Nottingham City Council, he said: "I am recording this message to urge as many of you to get the Covid-19 vaccination jab.

"It’s very important to keep our community safe and also this brilliant city of Nottingham as safe as possible. If you get the call book the appointment, get the jab."

More than 280,000 first doses of the Covid-19 vaccination have been given out to adults in Nottinghamshire so far.

While vaccination uptake is fairly high in older age categories in Nottinghamshire, overall, just 22.8 per cent of adults (16 and over) in Nottingham have had their first dose, according to figures from NHS England.
