Nottingham Castle to reopen after 'unexpected' closure yesterday

Nottingham Castle is set to reopen after temporarily closing its doors to visitors.

The popular attraction has recently reopened following a renovation boasting a new play area, visitor centre, cafe and Robin Hood Adventure Experience.

However, it was forced to close its doors once again due to a problem with an internal fixture at the Ducal Palace.

It was closed suddenly on Wednesday, July 28 and was shut for the whole day on Thursday, July 29.

Sara Blair-Manning, Chief Executive Officer, Nottingham Castle Trust: “We can confirm that Nottingham Castle has unfortunately closed today, Wednesday, July 28 following a problem with an internal fixture at the Ducal Palace.

"Full refunds or alternative dates have been offered to those who booked to attend.

“The entire site will be closed to anyone who has not pre-booked a ticket for today.”

However, the attraction has now announced it will reopen as of 10am on July 29 and has thanked customers for their patience.

Nottingham Castle said in an announcement on July 28: "Nottingham Castle will be open from 10am today, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back!

"Thank you for your continued patience whilst we investigated a lighting issue in one of our galleries.
