There are reduced bus ticket prices on Nottingham City Transport (NCT) buses heading into the new year. The maximum single fare for any journey will be £2 across all NCT services between January, February and March 2023 due to the Government-funded Help for Households initiative.
These trips are included on routes through to Loughborough, Southwell and Woodborough. The standard adult city area single will reduce from £2.50 to £2.00 and if you usually buy an all-day ticket, but only make two journeys a day, you can pay just £4.00 by paying for a single ticket on both buses you use.
All adult, under-19 and student single fares which are already £2 or less, £4.70 day tickets and all other tickets, such as Easyrider and longer term mobile tickets, remain at their normal prices. NCT also announced its Christmas and New Year timetable last week.

Buses will not be running on Christmas Day - which this year falls on Sunday - or Boxing Day. Buses run as normal up until December 23 and will resume as such on January 3.
Trentbarton is also taking part in the initiative. A trentbarton spokesperson said: “We will be adopting the Government funded £2 single fare cap being introduced from New Year’s Day until the end of March, to encourage people to use buses more regularly.
“trentbarton is taking part as we hope it will help some existing customers with the cost of living and may also encourage more people back to buses which could help ease congestion and reduce air pollution. We will monitor the scheme’s performance in January and assess any impact on our existing customers.
“All trentbarton services will offer the £2 single fare except for red arrow, which does not meet the Government’s conditions for its funding. Customers keen to make use of the £2 single along the Derby-Nottingham travel corridor can use indigo or i4.
“The £2 single fares are available paying with cash or using contactless and our mango app which both already have money-saving caps. Plus, there are our saver and zigzag options – all designed to help customers get value for money for their travel with trentbarton.”
