Nottingham burger bar closes early to let staff enjoy sun

It’s the hottest day of year so far in Nottingham and one shop is really feeling the heat. Temperatures were expected to peak under 31C around 3pm, and one eatery in Nottingham is letting their staff go home early this afternoon. Nissi Gourmet Burgers on Wollaton Street is usually open seven days a week from 10am - 8pm but this is what they posted on their social media this morning

The owner of Nissi Gourmet Burgers, who didn’t want to be named, feels the staff need an escape from the kitchen on this hot day, “It’s just so hot, isn’t it? It’s a hot kitchen, so we’re going to close around 3pm to make sure our staff can spend some time outside enjoying the day. No one wants to be in kitchen when it’s that hot. Might as well go and have a barbecue!”

Temperatures during the week have already hit 2022 highs with Northolt in west London seeing the mercury rise to 29.5C yesterday. And while London is expected to get the warmest temperatures again today, the Met Office has forecast most of England and Wales will bask in conditions ranging between 27C and 30C.

Looking further ahead into the weekend, conditions are set to cool fairly dramatically as rainy spells draw in across the county, with the highest temperatures almost halved in some places. Sunday is set to be slightly better weather-wise, but the cloudy day will see temperatures struggling to get past 20C.
