Nottingham beer halted during lockdown is back - and more widely available

A traditional cask ale that is synonymous with one of the oldest pubs in Nottingham is back after production temporarily halted during lockdown - and it's more widely available than before. The Olde Trip cask ale has been the preferred tipple for thousands of customers visiting Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem.

The traditional English ale, which has has a malty flavour with toffee notes which come from additional brewing sugars, is not only back on tap at the Trip, it's also being served at the Bell Inn, in Angel Row, and the Test Match in West Bridgford. The beer takes its name from the pilgrims and crusaders that would stop at the inn on their journey to Jerusalem back in the 1700s.

Karl Gibson, general manager of Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, said: "We had to temporarily pause production of The Olde Trip during lockdown, but I’m absolutely delighted that it’s not only back in our treasure of a pub, but our neighbours in the city too.

"The ale is a fabric of our pub and customers from all over the world have come to the pub to try a pint of the famous drink. I can’t wait to start serving it again.”
