Nottingham Beach returning to Old Market Square for 2023 school summer holidays

A giant 55 metre water slide will be among attractions taking over Nottingham's Old Market Square next month as a popular beach attraction returns to the city. The mini seaside resort in front of the Council House returned last summer following a three-year absence during the coronavirus pandemic.

The much-loved family attraction will now be back once again from July 25 until September 3. Entry to the beach and paddling area is free, with attractions including the giant 'Slip 'n Slide' costing extra.

Councillor Pavlos Kotsonis, the Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Nottingham City Council, said: "We are very pleased that Nottingham Beach will return to Old Market Square for the summer holidays. It's a fun and affordable summertime destination for families who can enjoy a free day out.

"People can also experience the thrilling rides and attractions or relax with a drink in the sun at the Beach Bar." Entry to the 'Slip 'n Slide' can be booked in advance, with hourly slots priced at £12.50 per person and £10.50 for Nottingham city residents.

Other attractions will include bungee trampolines, darts and food stalls ranging from Nutella-filled crepes to Greek gyros. The event is run by the Mellors Group, the company also behind the annual Winter Wonderland event.

Edward Mellors said: "We're delighted to be bringing the beach back to Old Market Square. Along with Winter Wonderland it's one of two events that shows our ongoing commitment to providing the best of entertainment for local people, even while our business grows well beyond Nottingham.

"I think the beach is particularly important because it's where we're best able to offer free fun for children and families that might not be able to afford to get away, especially in a cost-of-living crisis. See you on the sand."
