Nottingham bar bans MPs in 'cancel the curfew' campaign

A late-night Nottingham bar has banned all MPs until the government lifts the 10pm curfew.

In an Instagram post MOJO, in Thurland Street, shared a video of MPs with the word 'BANNED' superimposed in front of them in an Instagram post.

They said: "You won't serve us, so we won't serve you!

"Today we call on our friends, colleagues, brothers and sisters in bars, pubs and restaurants across the country to join us in putting all the members of parliament on notice. Until they see sense and either release our industry to trade or provide us with viable financial support, we will not serve them."

The post ended with #cancelthecurfew referring to the 10pm closing time for bars and restaurants imposed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson last week.

Martin Greenhow, managing director at MOJO, which has five late-night bars including Nottingham, said: "With neither evidence to support the assumption that hospitality is driving infection, the move to curtail the operational hours of our already crippled industry seems unjust and punitive, not to mention illogical and irrational. Are people more infectious after 10pm?

"Hospitality has slaved to work responsibly within the constraints laid out for us and now we are being thrown aside with scant concern for the impact these measures will have on our businesses and the wider economy."
