Nottingham and Nottinghamshire coronavirus cases see an increase of more than 60 in 24 hours

There were 61 new positive tests of Covid-19 recorded across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in the last 24 hours, new figures show.

Every area recorded new infections, according to the latest data from Public Health England released at 4pm today (September 11).

In Nottingham there were 18 new cases, taking the city's total to 1,489.

Ashfield saw the highest rise within the districts and boroughs of Nottinghamshire, recording 10 positive tests.

Broxtowe, which recently became an area for concern following localised flare-ups, saw seven new infections.

Rushcliffe had five new positive tests, there were six in Gedling and Mansfield's cases increased by eight.

Bassetlaw recorded only one new case.

The data also shows the country-wide total number of cases has increased by 3,539 in the last 24 hours, rising to 361,677.

There were 6 recorded deaths from people who have tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 28 days.

The UK-wide death toll now stands at 41,614.

This is the current breakdown of confirmed infections for each part of Nottinghamshire region which has 3,667 cases :

  • Ashfield - 648 ( increase of 10 )
  • Bassetlaw - 679 ( increase of one )
  • Broxtowe - 532 ( increase of seven )
  • Gedling - 440 ( increase of six )
  • Mansfield - 417 ( increase of eight )
  • Newark and Sherwood - 486 ( increase of six )
  • Rushcliffe - 465 ( increase of five )

The figures come as new rules are set to be implemented from Monday in England, meaning that gatherings of more than six people will be illegal.

The rules will apply across England to all ages and in any setting either indoors and outdoors, at home or a pub.

A single household or support bubble that is larger than six will still be able to gather.

However, covid-secure venues like places of worship, gyms, restaurants and hospitality settings can still hold more than six in total.

It's also worth noting that education and work settings are not affected by the new rules. While weddings and funerals can still go ahead with a limit of 30 people if conducted in a covid-secure way.
