Nottingham and Nottinghamshire beer gardens with covered shelters

Don't let the weather dampen your enthusiasm for a socially distanced pint.

We're all used to the British weather and many Notts pubs and restaurants have considered this when organising their outdoor tables. Those with the space and the means have created some amazing covered outdoor areas.

Under the current lockdown rules, pubs and restaurants can open for outdoor service however, you must order, eat and drink while seated at a table and the rule of six or two household rule applies.

While this all changes again from Monday, May 17, when you will be allowed inside your favourite venue, for now it's a case of wrapping up warm and if it's raining, heading for a beer/dining outside area with cover - either that or remember to take an umbrella.

Here are some of the Nottinghamshire venues with covered outdoor areas

Tom Browns Brasserie

Set on the banks of the River Trent at Gunthorpe, Tom Browns has a heated outdoor terrace and covered area. Restaurant reservations can be booked online.

The Wheatsheaf, Bingham

In the market town of Bingham, The Wheatsheaf pub and kitchen is a grade II listed building that dates to 1779. Outside, tables have been set up undercover. The venue is open for walk-ins and they'll be serving food and drinks.

The Magic Garden

In Canning Circus in Nottingham, where Derby Road, Ilkeston Road and Alfreton Road meet, this is a popular pub serving an impressive range of cask ales, craft beers, gins and whiskies, as well as a full menu of pub classics, pizzas and specials. Its pub garden includes a covered area too.

The Canal House in Nottingham

Great on a sunny day but still practical if it is raining, this waterfront venue has a a large covered area. It has been a popular choice for drinkers since its reopening on Monday, April 12. You can find it in Canal Street, Nottingham.

The New Foresters

Debbie Law, who has been at the helm of this pub off Huntingdon Street, in Nottingham, said in an interview with NottinghamshireLive earlier this month: "I've got two outdoor areas and one car park, we have 100 seats under shelter.

The Glass House

The cocktail bar in Trinity Place, Trinity Square in Nottingham's city centre has put up a marquee to protect its customers from the elements. With benches and pretty outdoor lighting it is looking great.

Farndon Ferry Bar and Bistro

Heading off towards Newark, this venue off Wyke Lane in Farndon has patio heaters and plenty of outdoor covered space. They're even boasting firepits and the use of blankets.
