The victims of a fireball crash in Notting Hill have been identified as two revellers and a barman they were giving a lift home to.
The three men had been returning from a nightclub when their car ploughed through the metal fence of a retirement home near Westbourne Park tube station in west London at 4.50am on Monday.
Witnesses told how a shirtless neighbour leapt from his bed after hearing the crash to fight in vain to free those trapped by their seatbelts inside.
It is believed the car driver and a passenger were friends who had given the third victim, a barman, a lift home from the club after he finished his shift.
They were all killed when the car, believed to be a Seat, burst into a ball of flames.
A witness said: “They had the door open and the man was screaming ‘Get me out of here!’ But they couldn’t get him out and ran away.
“The next minute the car exploded in a fireball - there’s not really anything anyone could have done.”
A Metropolitan Police officer at the scene told the Mail Online the driver had come north over a canal bridge before losing control of the vehicle.
