BRIEF: Notre Dame inks three on national signing day for basketball

Nov. 12--Mike Brey added three autographs to his collection Wednesday.

If the Notre Dame basketball coach has his way, he'll add a fourth in this class from a big man.

Guards Nikola Djogo and Temple Gibbs and power forward John Mooney put their signatures on national letters of intent Wednesday to play for Brey and the Irish.

"Good day for us," Brey said. "Not a lot of drama. To get them signed, sealed and delivered today is great."

The 6-foot-7, 185-pound Djogo totaled 1,930 points, 615 rebounds and 975 assists in three seasons at Saltfleet District High School in Ontario. He is playing his final season at Canada's Athlete Institute.

Djogo, who can play all three guard positions, is the first Canadian-born player to sign with Irish. Brey discovered him while scouting another player.

"Nik's a real mystery man because he's playing north of the border," Brey said.

Gibbs is a 6-3, 190-pound point guard who has averaged 17.3 points and 3.6 assists in his first three varsity seasons for Seton Hall Prep in New Jersey.

The 6-9, 240-pound Mooney has averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists during his career at Lake Brantley High School in Florida.
