Dec. 29--From head to toe, C.J. Prosise is feeling better these days.
Well, from head to ankle, at least.
Still, Notre Dame has been taking a hands-on approach, which has meant hands off of its starting running back since he returned to practice last week.
Prosise hasn't played since spraining his left ankle Nov. 21 at Fenway Park against Boston College. He also left the Irish's victory Nov. 7 against Temple with a concussion and was a spectator the following week against Wake Forest.
Not to mention he missed some time during training camp with a hip flexor.
"He's doing much better," Notre Dame associate head coach Mike Denbrock said Monday. "From a mental standpoint, he knows what we're doing. It's just a matter of how far along his progression from a health standpoint can come between now and game time to see how much we'll use him."
Prosise has 1,029 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns to his credit this season and averages 6.6 yards per carry.
Denbrock said Prosise's participation will depend on how this week unfolds. The Irish practiced with helmets but didn't hit Sunday.
"He's a pretty dangerous man with the ball in his hands, so we hope to have him as much as we can," Denbrock said.
