Notorious pair of dangerous dogs terrorise locals and attack pets in Tallaght

A pair of aggressive dogs have been sighted roaming around Tallaght attacking the pets of residents.

The two animals were spotted on Kiltipper Road over the weekend, where their photo was shared online.

A member of a neighbourhood watch page on Facebook said on Saturday that their dog had been attacked by two dogs of a similar colour.

They said: "I’m in the Killinarden area (they) savagely attacked my dog tonight. My dad had to pull them off him; he’s okay just very shook up."

The dogs appear to be large Akita dogs, the same breed that brutally killed a tiny terrier in Saggart late last year.

Japanese Akitas are large dogs that are restricted in Ireland. They were originally bred as fighting dogs and are known to be aggressive towards other dogs, especially those of the same sex.

Locals have been in contact with their local dog wardens, who have advised those concerned to call their number straight away if they spot the aggressive dogs.
