Notorious Dublin criminal vowing to 'step up to the plate' after death of Robbie Lawlor

A notorious north Dublin criminal has sent out a warning and vowed to "step up to the plate" after the death of Robbie Lawlor on Saturday.

The short clip has been circulating heavily online since thug Lawlor was shot dead in Belfast yesterday.

Lawlor, a dad-of-three, was blasted several times at close range outside a house at Etna Street in the Ardoyne area of the city.

The 35-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene with four men arrested following the bloodbath.

Hours after his death, the notorious Dublin criminal blasted Lawlor "a muppet" online and said that once again, he would have to pick up the pieces in the area.

He said: "Why have I to step up to the plate time and time again? The people here are sick of it.

"I'm sick of standing up to the plate. Robbie Lawlor is gone, he's a muppet. They're all muppets man. Every single time I have to step up to the plate."

The thug behind the video has over 20 previous convictions, including one for assault and one for criminal damage, and is well known to Gardai.

Dublin Live understands the man was recently arrested alongside another well known criminal in connection with a double shooting on Killeek Lane at the start of January - both men were subsequently released without charge.

A source told Dublin Live that the victim "died twice" before being brought back by heroic emergency service workers.

The victim was shot up to five times as he and another man, who was seriously injured in the blast but has since recovered, sat in a blue Mercedes.

It is understood he is still fighting for his life in hospital nearly three months after the horrific shooting.

It is believed that Robbie Lawlor was intent on "either killing someone or hammering someone for money" when his killer struck in the north of the country on Saturday morning.

He was one of the prime suspects in the gruesome death of Drogheda teenager Keane Mulready-Woods, whose body was found dismembered in Dublin.

The tragic teen's body parts were scattered around north Dublin after he was murdered in January.

Last year, a video of Lawlor being confronted after being released from prison saw him struck in the face.

The video shows a number of men on the street confronting him before he is hit.

Lawlor then appears to throw a punch towards another man before taking a few steps back and laughing.

The camera man shouts "that's only the start of it Robbie".

Lawlor, who had 124 previous convictions, had been released from custody after being cleared of attempting to murder his ex's mother in law.
