Notorious drink driver Paul Anthony Hepworth jailed by Albany court for 11th conviction

Serial drink driver Paul Anthony Hepworth was found guilty in Albany Magistrate Court.  (ABC Great Southern)

A notorious drink driver in Western Australia labelled a "risk to the public" has been jailed for his 11th drink-driving conviction.

Paul Anthony Hepworth was sentenced to 14 months' prison and fined $500 in Albany Magistrates Court after he was found guilty of drink driving during a brief trial this month and breaching a violence restraining order.

Hepworth has a long record of drink-driving offences and was disqualified for life from driving in 2017 and handed an 18-month suspended prison term.

Police caught him driving near his Mira Mar property with a blood-alcohol level of 0.189 on June 3.

Magistrate Dianne Scaddan gave a scathing assessment of Hepworth's offending.

"You have had every opportunity, through the justice system, for rehabilitation," she said.

"You've had fair opportunity ... it hasn't deterred you from reoffending."

Sergeant Alan Dean told the court Hepworth "goes about doing whatever he wants, whenever he wants".

During the trial, Hepworth accepted the fact he was under the influence and behind the wheel of a vehicle but pleaded not guilty, claiming he had only driven on his property, not public roads.

But following witness and police statements to the contrary, Hepworth was found guilty by Magistrate Kevin Tavener at the end of a two-hour trial.

He will be eligible for parole.
