Notorious criminal Robbie Lawlor told 'this is only the start' as he's confronted on street following release

Fears have escalated that a gang war could be about to kick off after a video emerged of a notorious criminal being confronted.

Robbie Lawlor, who was recently released from custody after being cleared of attempting to murder his ex's mother in law, was told "that's only the start" and was hit in the head by the gang as they confronted him on a street.

It's understood a number of different groups are targeting the 35-year-old and gardai have been put on high alert following his release.

The dad-of-three had been locked up after being charged with attempted murder but was acquitted last week along with four other charges.

Lawlor has 124 previous convictions.

The video shows a number of men on the street confronting him before he is struck in the face.

Lawlor then appears to throw a punch towards another man before taking a few steps back and laughing.

The camera man shouts "that's only the start of it Robbie".
