Notingham Forest fans have had this to say as Dwight Gayle transfer saga rumbles on

Nottingham Forest fans have been giving their verdicts on the latest Dwight Gayle transfer rumour.

It was claimed this afternoon that the Reds have made an offer for the Newcastle United striker, with a £15m permanent transfer to be sealed in the summer if Sabri Lamouchi's side are promoted to the Premier League.

However, Nottinghamshire Live understands that those reports are wide of the mark and that Forest have no intention of trying to sign Gayle before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Forest have signed Nuno da Costa as backup to Lewis Grabban, with the Reds filling another spot in the squad by recalling forward Tyler Walker from Lincoln City.

But it won't be Gayle, who is still injured after suffering a hamstring problem in Newcastle's 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month.

Here is what Forest fans had to say about the latest Gayle rumour.

Jason Allwood: “Get him in amazing at our level if we go up look at the big picture future wise.”

Lee Watson: “Couldn’t compete financially with Bristol city for Wells so cant see this happening.”

Richard Mason: “Absolutely not going to happen.”

Nick Glover: “Would definitely score goals but overpriced for sure!”

Ricky Forlenza: “Just bring him in, no better striker in the championship.”

Robin Palmer: “Leave him where he is.”

Alan Birks: “No thanks, let's just stop all this speculation, sign the player's and concentrate on promotion.”

Phil Cresswell: “Swap him for Carvalho.”
