'Nothing wrong' with cheeky naked cyclists seen in town centre

People have had their say on the two cheeky naked cyclists who were spotted riding a tandem bike through Southport town centre on Saturday.

The couple were seen at around 7.15pm on Lord Street as people up and down the main road enjoyed food and drink. The bustling road was lined with people celebrating the Platinum Jubilee, with many of them rubbing their eyes in disbelief as the bike went past.

Now, following the ECHO's coverage of the surprising sight, readers have had their say, with a number of people embracing the natural nature of the bike ride. Commenting on the story, Sholla wrote: "That's the trouble with this country, Old Victorian attitudes, there's nothing wrong with the human body it's just that we're all different."

Shazbee said: "Good luck to them. They should have sheepskin saddles since all that pedalling will cause havoc with their sit-upons." Missyports added: "Good luck to them I say, riding naked for charity, they should be commended."

Julie Griffiths commented on the ECHO Facebook page: "Good on them hope they enjoyed the ride." Graham Byrne made a good point, he said: "Well less weight makes the bike go faster."

Samantha Williams said: "Why do people seem to have a problem with this?? It's just naked bodies we all have them. They're also doing it for charity, hats off to them."

Despite the support from readers, some still had their opinions against the naturist approach. Tink2001 commented: "Bet they wouldn't be doing that if it was January!"

Ian Northend wrote: "That could upset people whove just eaten."
