Nothing to worry about with Dolphins’ Week 1 injury report

The Miami Dolphins’ season kicks off this weekend with a date with a familiar set of faces: the New England Patriots. And while the Dolphins will be down several players for this game, including linebacker Vince Biegel and wide receivers Albert Wilson and Allen Hurns, the team should be considered fairly healthy ahead of the start of the season.

Or so we thought.

The team released their first injury report of the year yesterday — and it featured not only a bunch of names, but a bunch of recognizable names. Names like Howard, Van Noy, Parker, Williams, Tagovailoa, Gesicki and Jones graced the injury report, so while Miami hasn’t been smacked with injury, the Dolphins do have bumps and bruises to be accounted for. And seemingly all of the team’s best players are the ones who have them.

Anything to worry about? No. Not yet, at least. Everyone on Miami’s injury report was able to participate in some fashion for the Dolphins’ Wednesday practice, meaning the injuries are presumably clean enough to allow for stress and activity. And, in some cases, the presence of the player on the report is tied to a preexisting injury. That can be said for Tagovailoa, who we can assuming is continuing to receive treatment for his November 2019 hip dislocation. Xavien Howard started this year’s training camp on the PUP due to offseason knee surgery. He’s been cleared for activity — but steadily rehabbing his way back for the start of the season.

It is easy to see names on a list and assume the worst, but this initial injury report for the Dolphins didn’t seem to offer too much unexpected news — and the fact that the Dolphins players were all participants to some degree should tell you there’s nothing to worry about on the injury front in Miami. At least not yet.
