'Nothing to be ashamed of' - Newcastle United fans react to Liverpool defeat

Newcastle United fans believe there are plenty of positives to take from the Magpies defeat at Anfield.

Jetro Willems fired Steve Bruce's side into a surprise early lead with a thunderbolt in front of the delighted away supporters.

But a quickfire double from Sadio Mane and a second-half strike from Mo Salah eased the league leaders to a comfortable 3-1 victory.

Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the season, and are now unbeaten in their last 43 Premier League matches at Anfield.

Bruce says the visitors gave a "decent account" of themselves at the home of the European champions, and believes his side showed "resilience" in the face of a couple of costly errors.

And United fans have taken to social media to praise the Magpies' performance ahead of a crunch encounter at St James' Park against Brighton.

'This is what I expected'

'Choose a different team to support'

'Didn't expect any better'

'Perspective'

'Can't really complain'

'Proud of the boys'

'Lack quality and luck'

'Nothing to be ashamed of'

'Grand delusion'
