'Nothing is done till it's done': Sunderland owner Stewart Donald provides takeover update

Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has provided a tantalising takeover update to Black Cats' fans.

Boss Jack Ross has previously revealed contact has been made with MSD Partners, who are reportedly set to purchase a majority shareholding in the club.

MSD Partners comprises of some of the richest people on the planet including John Phelan, Glenn Fuhrman and Rob Platek. They will also be able to count on the support of Michael Dell, owner of Dell Technologies, as a “passive minority partner”

The businessmen registered their new company FPP Sunderland Limited with companies house on September 16, as the takeover moved a step closer to completion.

But fans have been left on edge over the last week by the supposed lack of any concrete developments.

In response to the speculation, Donald posted on Twitter on Saturday morning that the takeover "is not quite as advanced as people make out".

But the Sunderland owner still rated the chances of the deal being completed as greater than "50/50".

Donald posted: "For @SunderlandAFC fans who are unsure what i said. I said I can’t say too much but it’s not quite as advanced as people make out but better than 50/50.

"Nothing is done till it’s done. We will know 1 or 2 weeks. Too many rumours with people pretending to know more than they do."

The Black Cats host MK Dons at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.
