The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t stop after a well-reviewed 2020 NFL draft class.
Duke Tobin, Zac Taylor and Co. turned right around and attacked undrafted free agency, scooping up various names and positions right after the draft ended.
Here’s who they have so far, plus details and highlights for each.
OL Clay Cordasco
Cordasco is a senior who could be in the mix at tackle for the Bengals over the summer. He’s 6’5″ and 314 pounds and posted good measurables and dates like pro days. Fred Johnson is in the mix at right tackle now, but Cordasco has some numbers worth putting to work.
He’s the right guard (No. 56) in the following reel:
LB Marcel Spears Jr.
Spears was always tabbed as a priority free agent but has enough consistency to put up a fight.
From NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein:
“Undersized Will linebacker prospect who played a reliable, consistent brand of football for Iowa State. Spears’ play recognition against the run is average and his angles to the football can be choppy and inefficient. He doesn’t have the burst or top-end speed for extended pursuits to the perimeter. He’s a very consistent tackler once he’s locked and loaded and he plays with solid ball skills and instincts when dropping into space. Spears handled his duties in college but lacks the size and traits necessary to make it as a pro.”
CB Isiah Swann
Swann put up 17 interceptions at Dartmouth before throwing up some good numbers at his pro day. A 5’11” corner with upside, Swann has a big fight ahead of him at a deep spot on the Cincinnati roster.
G Josh Knipfel
Knipfel started 39 straight games and was an honorable All-Big 12 pick twice. He’s a big 6’5″ and 300 pounds and ready for a competition on the inside of Cincinnati’s line.
He’s right guard (No. 66) in the following cutup:
RB Devwah Whaley
Whaley put up notable numbers over four years at Arkansas, never seeing his per-carry average dip below 4.0 while scoring 16 times. He’s a 5’11”, 212-pound strong runner who can probably put up a big fight for the practice squad at a minimum.
LB Kendall Futrell
Futrell broke out last year with ECU, getting after quarterbacks with 11 sacks. He’s more depth at a position of need with some intriguing upside and slots in that “hybrid” role standing up the Bengals seem to love right now.
WR Scotty Washington
Washington is a big 6’5″ target who broke the 600-yard mark twice over four seasons at Wake Forest and caught seven touchdowns as a senior. He’s got an uphill battle but the size sure makes him intriguing as a situational weapon.
