NotebookLM has announced its biggest update yet to the Reports. It now gives you more control over structure, style, tone, and output.
Starting today, you can create fully customizable reports by defining how you want them to look and read. The company has also added a new language picker, which allows you to generate reports in any of the 80+ supported languages.

NotebookLM says the feature now goes beyond static outputs, offering dynamic suggestions for topics or themes based on the user’s uploaded sources. For example, if you upload scientific papers, the system might suggest drafting a white paper, while uploading news articles could lead to explainers.
Another important addition is full prompt customization within reports, which allows you to tailor AI responses even further. Besides, the platform has also introduced a new stock report format, blog posts, and added to its growing list of default templates.
The update is rolling out now and should be available to all users by the end of the week, according to the team’s responses on X. When asked about bringing these updates to the mobile app, NotebookLM confirmed that mobile updates are “in the works.”
Also, while we have your attention… Flashcards & Quizzes are rolling out TODAY! 🥳

Along with the Reports update, the NotebookLM team has also introduced new study tools called Flashcards and Quizzes. These features are also rolling out today, and they will allow you to build custom sets for learning and revision. If a question seems tricky, the new Explain button generates an in-depth summary directly in the chat to help clarify the answer.
So if we step back and take a look at all the new features launched by NotebookLM, then it is evident that the platform is positioning itself not just as a writing and research companion but also as a study aid.
