The update introduces Audio Overview Customisation, which gives you more control over how you consume summaries. You can now pick a preferred language, set the desired length (English only for now), and even add guiding prompts to shape the response. This means you can get overviews tailored to your personal style of learning or the specific context you are already working in.
Along with the personalization, the Audio Overviews feature has also gotten faster. According to the NotebookLM team, the Audio Overviews now load up to 95% faster, reducing buffering time and making the experience smoother, especially on mobile.
What’s Coming Next on NotebookLM?
The NotebookLM team has also hinted at some upcoming features while responding to user requests on X. One request was for a single-voice option for Audio Overviews, similar to the one used in Video Overviews. The company confirmed that it’s already on the roadmap and will arrive soon.
Another highly requested feature is resume playback, allowing users to pick up where they left off if they close the app. Thankfully, the NotebookLM team has confirmed this is “next on the list.”
A Growing Set of Tools on the Platform

Recently, the company also introduced its much-anticipated feature called Video Overviews. It combines audio with visuals for more dynamic explanations. If we go by the claims of the company, then since its launch, users have already generated more than 1.1 million videos, showing strong demand for new ways of learning and summarising.
While currently the feature is only available in English, support for more languages is expected in future updates. However, with an engaging community on X, new mobile updates, and more features on the horizon, it makes one thing clear: people are loving Google’s research and note-taking online tool.
