The time has come when every NFL roster has to trim their rosters down to 53 players — including the Tennessee Titans.
And it maybe to early for some players to breathe easy just yet.
Teams now have a chance to claim players cut from other rosters to fill any gaps they still have remaining before they’re in the thick of the regular season.
Here are some players the Titans may have an eye on.
Running backs

• Thomas Rawls
When healthy Rawls is a proven versatile back. The problem is, he’s rarely healthy.
• Jay Ajayi
Ajayi seems to be the best running back no one seems to want. He has shown he’s capable of competing in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins.
• Josh Adams
Adams is a young back capable of running with power or speed.
• Wendell Smallwood
Smallwood is a young back who can aid both in the run game and the passing game.
Wide Receivers

• Josh Doctson
Doctson is a former first round who has flashed from time to time, but has yet to put it all together. The Titans could bet on themselves to coach up Doctson or have him for a depth piece or goal line threat.
• Brice Butler
Butler has the make up of a number 1 wide receiver for an NFL team with 4.3 speed and and 6’3 frame. However, there’s just something he lacks in getting to that point.
• Demaryius Thomas
Thomas could be a leader in the Titans wide receivers room. In fact, the Titans kicked the tires on him before the Texans ultimately made the trade for him.
• LaQuan Treadwell
Much like Doctson, Treadwell is a former first round pick. If nothing else he could be used as another big body around the goal line.
Tight end

• Dwayne Allen
Allen has found success in the NFL, but is on the back nine of his career. He could be another veteran presence on this team.
• Luke Wilson
Luke Wilson had some success in the NFL with Seattle. He may not ever light up a stats sheet, but he should be considered high quality depth.
• Ricky Seals-Jones
Seals-Jones is a tight end with experience playing wide receiver, just like Delanie Walker. While his blocking his still a work in progress, he is an absolute nightmare mismatch in the passing game.
Offensive Line

• Martez Ivey
This is a young rookie many draft experts loved coming into the NFL. He maybe somebody the Titans could take a low-risk, high-reward gamble on.
• Mitch Hyatt
Hyatt is also a rookie that can play tackle or guard. The Titans love that type of versatility. He also has had a lot of experience playing tackle for Clemson.
• Josh Garnett
Garnett was the top offensive guard coming out of college just a few season ago. However, staying healthy is been a huge problem for him.
Defensive Line

• Gerald Willis
Willis is a rookie with the body type team covet at the nose tackle position. He’s a man who takes up a lot of space.
• Muhammad Wilkerson
After having a lot of success in the NFL, Wilkerson’s play seems to have fallen off a bit over the last few years. If the Titans believe there is still some thread left on the tires, they could use him as a fill in until Simmons is ready to go.
Linebackers

• Dion Jordan
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Jordan is a former third-overall pick. However, injuries and off field issues have derailed his career. However, he could still be used as a quality depth guy for a team.
• Jachai Polite
Polite was considered to be a first round talent in the 2019 NFL draft. However, after his horrid interviews at the combine he tumbled all the way down to the third round. He’s a guy the Titans should absolutely take a hard look at, if their comfortable with his off field stuff.
• Shane Ray
Ray had a phenomenal college career at Missouri, but hasn’t put it all together for the NFL just yet. However, he’s had success playing as a rotational piece in Denver.
• Noah Spence
Spence is an edge rusher with all the physical talent in the world. However, he’s had his share of off field issues. He’s also a guy who has some history with Mike Vrabel.
• Malik Jefferson
Jefferson is a well-rounded, athletic linebacker, and is someone the Titans should take and extremely hard look on if he makes it to them on the waiver wire.
• Brandon Marshall
Marshall is a seasoned veteran at the linebacker position. The Titans currently don’t have a need for that position, but he may fit as a good locker room guy.
Defensive Backs

• Eric Berry
With both Kevin Byard and Kenny Vaccaro at Safety the Titans are pretty much set. However, if the opportunity arises to sign a safety of Berry’s caliber, saying no could be hard. Berry also has roots in Tennessee spending his college career with the Vols.
• Deshawn Shead
Shead has spent his NFL career as a depth guy at the cornerback position, and found success in that role.
• Sua’ Cravens
Unless Cravens wants to retire again, it’s looking like he’ll have to take on a second-string role. If he elects to go this route, he could be the best second-stringer in the NFL.
• Teez Tabor
Tabor is another player from Florida who was considered to be a first round talent until the combine. He posted a 4.7 40 and fell all the way to the fifth round. He has excellent size and instincts, and has flashed at times. He could serve as quality depth for the Titans.
