Notable Lions, Vikings staff expected to miss Michigan’s Pro Day

The NFC North is expected to have an influx of new quarterbacks once the 2024 NFL Draft is complete. USC quarterback Caleb Williams is expected to go number one overall to the Bears and the Vikings are expected to pick one of the remaining big three. One of the players being tied heavily to Minnesota is Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

However, Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and coach Kevin O’Connell are not expected to attend the Michigan Pro Day on Friday. In their absence, they are sending their quarterback and assistant quarterbacks coach.

ESPN’s Matt Miller reported their absence but noted that they could show up even though they are not expected to attend. The Vikings do have a private workout set with McCarthy.

McCarthy has been one of the quarterbacks mocked to the Vikings in trade-up scenarios. McCarthy is projected to go as high as number two by some media members, while others have him falling to just outside the top 10. His performance at the Michigan Pro Day is expected to be what dictates where he falls in the draft after a strong scouting combine performance earlier in March.

Other notable players expected to work out are wide receiver Roman Wilson, cornerback Mike Sainristil, running back Blake Corum, and defensive lineman Kris Jenkins.

The Lions will be represented in Ann Arbor, but GM Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell are expected to wait until Detroit’s local pro day to check out Wolverines prospects in person.
