'Not your normal first date': Man arrested after drive with new love interest ends in police chase

A man was arrested after a first date ended in a police chase in Tameside, police said.

The driver was taking his 'new love interest' out in the car when he spotted officers on Boyds Walk, Dukinfield, according to a tweet by GMP Traffic.

He quickly drove away, before abandoning the car on Morar Road.

Police said they tracked him down and he was arrested shortly afterwards.

Officers said he failed a roadside breath test.

Traffic police also tweeted about another chase in Tameside on Sunday afternoon.

Police began chasing a Mazda 3, after noticing it was stolen and on false plates in Ashton-under-Lyne, according to a post.

Officers chased it for eight minutes around Dukinfield, before the car was 'abandoned on Linksfield' police said.

A police helicopter was deployed in the hunt for the driver, and an 'occupant was located in the woods', according to a tweet posted at 4pm.
